Making Acrylic Paint From Magicals 17 Jan 2018

Posted by Kaye Grieve on

Magicals and Magical Shakers are a mixture of pigments (and mica if they are a Starburst) which can be used in a variety of ways. The following video shows how to mix them with Liquitex Matte Medium to make acrylic paint which I then used in a journal project.

Tip 1

This gives a very fluid paint with a consistency of high flow or air brush - so the consistency of the medium determines the consistency of the paint i.e. Heavy Gel Medium would give a heavy body paint.

Tip 2

You can use any gel medium i.e. Gloss, Matte, Fluid, Soft, Regular, Heavy, Extra Heavy

Tip 3

The Magicals are a mixture of pigments, so stir well to ensure all are dissolved.
